About The City

Visit Tromso during October – March to catch the Northern Lights! Our guide is geared towards a winter visit.

  • Located in the North of Norway
  • Expensive
  • Northern Lights & Fjords

where to stay

Stay central – the Radisson Blu is especially great for proximity in town and it’s also a primary pick up spot for most tours.

If you’re looking for a higher end, unique stay, check out Malangen Brygger Resort or Camp North. However, note that both are located much further from the city.

  • Radisson Blu Tromso
  • Scandic Ishavshotel

  • Malangen Brygger Resort or Camp North

how to get around

A car is definitely an option, but if you’re visiting in the winter and taking advantage of the tours, then you really won’t need a car. Plus, without it, you can avoid driving the icy streets!

  • Walk (in town)

  • Public Buses
  • Taxi

what TO do

  • Northern Lights Tour with Marianne’s Heaven on Earth Aurora Chasers

  • Fjords Tour with Arctic Explorers
  • Reindeer Tour with Tromso Arctic Reindeer

WHERE TO eat

  • Cinnamon Rolls (try them at: Fro, Smortorget, or Riso)
  • Helmersen Delikatesser & Vinbar (winer bar/dinner)
  • Casa Inferno (pizza, great after a long, cold day)
